Firstly, congratulations to Thorsten, I'm feeling very proud of him as he passed all 3 ITMA exams at the first attempt, good going by anyone's standards, especially when not in your first language, so well done!! Enjoyed our exam celebration/my birthday meal yesterday and our beers out - cost £4 a pint but was worth it! Aarhus has been a really nice stop-over, really reminded us of Maastricht with loads of quirky alleys, cobbled streets and friendly people. We got chatting to a danish guy and an irish guy (doing his phd at Aarhus uni) in the pub last night and they told us it never rains in Aarhus (admittedly after a few beers!); we woke up this morning to a thunderstorm!! Lets hope the weather doesn't follow us to Copenhagen.
We've had our first negative experience to share with you! We decided on our first night here in Aarhus to stay in the city centre at a cheap(er!) guesthouse (City Sleep-In) rather than the youth hostel. Big mistake! We had neighbours sh*gging on the right (luckily though over in seconds, poor girl!), neighbours who talked all night on the left, a main road outside, a train line beyond that, a nightclub opposite on the right and a level crossing (with a 24 hour train network!) opposite on the left!! Needless to say, we didn't get much sleep, even with earplugs, and checked out first thing!! We then went to the youth hostel (Danhostel Marienlundsvej) for last night and it was fab, right in the middle of Risskov Woods, and only a 3km easy walk to town. Would really recommend it. Moral of the story is not save £2 each for a bed, its not worth it!!

Are you sure that you weren't staying at City Sleep Over instead of Sleep in?
